Busy, Busy, Busy! Moving and projects!

Wow.  It's been awhile!  I haven't intentionally been on a blogging hiatus, but our busy circumstances have contributed to it a lot!

So here's the deal.  I've been working on organizing and packing in preparation for our big move in the middle/end of February.  It was also moved up by 3 days, so I have just a little less time to get it all done.  Besides that, I'm beginning to plan Brennan's birthday party.  We are doing a monster theme (especially Mike Wazowski) and I'm going to be crocheting him a Mike Wazowski hat. I also think I'm going to make him a pair of these slippers as a gift.  They not only go with the theme, but he needs a pair of slippers and these are fun!!!

I have been working on a couple of product review for the blog, so watch for them to come up soon!  They both come with giveaways, that you are all going to love!

I've also had some projects keeping me busy.  Before packing up my sewing machine, I wanted to get all of my sewing projects finished.  That meant extending the legs on Bryleigh's fleece bunting (of course, she had a growth spurt right after her Grandma finished sewing it and I needed to make room for her toesies), and finishing up a tedious toy stroller cover replacement.  I didn't have a pattern, so I had to disassemble the old one to use as a pattern before putting it all back together.  That included the seat and the basket underneath... Honestly, I spent way too much time on a toy stroller, but hey- it was free at a garage sale and made a good diy project.

And though the next project wasn't necessary immediately, I always need to be in the middle of crocheting something so I have something to keep me busy on car rides and when the kids are playing nicely but still need close supervision.  I decided to make my Bryleigh a dress.  It turned out adorable and I just love it!

We're going to be awfully busy through the end of February (actually, the end of March is probably more realistic), but I hope to blog more often anyway!  Wish me luck and good time management!

That 'To-Do List' Feeling

Awww man!

I'm starting to get the feeling that I need to write another to-do list.  For a little while, it seemed like I was getting most everything I wanted to do accomplished, but now, it feels the other way again!  Whenever I can cross one item off of my mental list, I need to add two more.  So, whenever the feeling finally gets strong enough, I take that mental list in my mind and put it down on paper.  For some reason it really seems to help motivate me and the sense of accomplishment seems even greater when you can physically cross an item off of the list.  Plus, if it is written down, Ryan is way more likely to happily help me cross some stuff off.

So, here's what I can come up with off of the top of my head right now...  It is no big surprise that almost all of it is baby related.

  1. Finish new baby bumpers (which requires a few steps: #1- cut fabric squares, #2- glue/adhere fabric to pipe insulation, #3- make and apply snapping bands).  Now I bet you're curious about what kind of bumpers I'm making!  Watch for a tutorial soon... :)
  2.  Make ring sling
  3. Crochet a cocoon to match a baby hat.
  4. Finish B's baby book before the new baby comes.
  5. Try to start the new baby's book.
  6. Keep up my baby journal and blog.
  7. Officially open my blog's crochet store (That's right!  I'm finally working on getting a mini-store up and running on my site where I can sell some of the stuff that I just love to make!  In turn, I'll be adding more to my to-do list!).
  8. Finish the hat I'm working on for a friend.
  9. Rearrange pictures/wall hangings in Brennan's room and add the cool new wall cubes I found that match perfectly!
  10. Work on any little details for Brennan's birthday party on the 25th.  I can't believe he's turning two  next Friday!!!
  11. Find some little shoes (or a cute shoe pattern) for the baptism.  I'd like to find some newborn ruffle-butt tights, too!
  12. Buy a baby ring and chain.
  13. Make final decisions about which double stroller and baby monitor we want to get and just buy them.
  14. Keep working on finding a great deal on a Mei Tai carrier.
  15. Work on writing my next Etsy store review.... you guessed it!  Watch for a review and giveaway right after I have this baby!  This one will be cute...
  16. Complete my search for diaper fabrics and schedule a sewing day with my family!
  17. Clean and reorganize the basement.
  18. Clean and reorganize the upstairs.
  19. Oh, and the obvious ones... Fold and put away laundry.
  20. Run and unpack the dishwasher.
  21. Constantly pick up the hurricane of toys that hit the house!
Well... I'm sure there's a lot more I need to do, too, but I'm wasting too much precious Brennan-is-asleep time to keep just thinking about it!  Tell me about your lists so I don't feel so crazy!!!

The never ending to-do list!

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyday your to-do list gets longer and longer, even if you've been faithfully trying to knock tasks off of it?  Because this is the story of my life.

If I pick a task to work on, I always think of two to three more things I need to add to my list before even finishing the original task.  Boy, do I wish there was a better way of keeping up with it all!  I'm open to anyone's suggestions!

This is a good portion of my current to-do list, but keep in mind, it doesn't include everything...

Put up plastic window insulation
Put all flower pots in garage
Dig up Dahlias
Cover Hydrangea in leaves
Finish collecting leaves and mow
Put up Christmas lights
Update perpetual calendar
Finish sewing Ryan’s vest (Halloween costume needed by 10/28)
Sew Arm Garters (Halloween costume needed by 10/28)
Catch up baby journaling (I'm only about 2 months behind...)
Finish B’s baby book
Start and complete B’s card book
Order photo book for Great Grandma Jan
Finish all details for our gender reveal party (there are a lot , but I don't want to give them away yet...)
Clean house from top to bottom
Finish cross stitch stocking by Christmas
Crochet someone's Christmas gift
Start finding and buying Christmas gifts
Research and buy a few necessary baby items (double stroller, new rocker, SIDS motion detector)
Take 16 week pregnancy photos... (I'm 17 weeks already)
Put up closet organizers in Brennan's closet
TRY to keep up blogging

I really do enjoy doing a lot of these things.  The problem is finding the time and meeting the deadlines while still keeping up with my rambunctious (to put it lightly) 20 month old, the dozens of loads of laundry and cloth diapers that pile up each month, keeping the house as clean and I can manage, and my very part time work schedule.  Maybe one day I'll cross off the very last item on my list and take a vacation!
